NGC 7380 is an open star cluster embedded in the Wizard Nebula, located 8,000 light years away toward the constellation Cepheus. The entire nebula spans about 110 light years. The cluster is relatively young, forming only about 5 million years ago. Though the nebula itself may last only a few million years, some of the stars may outlive our Sun.
This image shows the region in infrared light, with colors representing different wavelengths. Blue and cyan indicate wavelengths of 3.4 and 4.6 microns, emitted primarily from star light. Green and red indicate wavelengths of 12 and 22 microns, primarily emitted by warm dust.
